68 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan
Eagletalon had always been easy to talk to. It made him a popular choice for interaction at Gatherings - though he had to admit, he always found himself retelling the same old stories, and that got, well, old pretty fast. What he hadn't realized, however, was that Duskflower was just as (if not more) popular than he was, with both she-cats and toms alike.
While he'd been busy giving Russetfall a cold, unfriendly glower, he'd lost track of Duskflower as a small group of cats moved in to greet her. His ears swiveled, catching the sound of his mate's name, and he stayed where he was a moment, figuring he'd be interrupting and hovering like some sort of overprotective tom who couldn't handle his mate interacting with others.
He almost laughed at himself, glancing back to find some of his own friends to talk to, when he caught sight of Dustspots - a small tabby warrior from NightClan - slinking over like a weasel to stand next to Duskflower. He recognized the body language, and didn't need to be standing right next to her to catch the intent. Eagletalon snorted, unable to stop himself from walking over.
She has it handled. Don't get cocky. Don't be THAT tom. Remembering his past experience with Cloudflame, Eagletalon slowed his pace to a leisured trot, nodding to the cats that had assembled around Duskflower. He let their shoulder fur brush, briefly, not one for big public displays of affection. He couldn't fully resist giving Dustspots a challenging glance, but he let the tom talk, listening as Roselight interjected with an all-too-bland description of how RainClan was doing lately.
There was a story there, and he would have loved to know it, but that could wait. Maybe the skinny tabby on the rock next to the other leaders would clear things up later?
When Dustspots was distracted by another NightClan tom's arrival - Hiddenheart - Eagletalon stole a moment to whisper at Duskflower. "Good thing I came along," he teased, purring a bit. "I'd hate to have to hear Hawkstar tell me you ran off with a NightClan tom while I was stuck home." She wouldn't, of course, but he couldn't help poking a bit of fun at the situation.
Though he believed Duskflower thought all of this was probably harmless interaction - Eagletalon was a little too perceptive to call it that. Some of these toms were openly flirting, of course, he'd done it too in his young warrior days, and then there were some toms who were obviously looking to stir up trouble in other Clans.
Like Dustspots, here. Who was probably being so very charming.
