Well, this was a bit of a problem. She was always looking for things to help out the clan, but this might have been a bit too much. She'd decided that it would be a fantastic idea to roll a ball of moss together for the nests, since once it dried it smelled very sweet and made for excellent bedding. Except that the moss ball was now huge, bigger than the she-cat that had started this little adventure this morning. It was also caught up with various feathers that made it bigger and gave it the look of an extra fluffy, very fat, cat. It wasn't heavy, really, just unwieldy for her.
Honeysong pushed at the mass until she had it wedged between two close growing trees, where it stuck. "Really?" She hit her blonde head against the tree and sighed. She sighed then pushed up against her hind paws in order to push against the ball of moss. Unfortunately, it was stuck fast. "Come on now, you're supposed to be for the dens, stop being a stubborn ball of moss now." She was aware she was scolding a ball of moss, but it made her feel better.
Fluffy tail lashing behind her, the slight she-cat pushed against the moss with all her might. She didn't expect it to suddenly launch out of the place between the trees, leaving the older cat to fall face first to the dirt.

LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun There was a lot on his mind these days. Grayowl being chief among them, the gray tom's latest scheme reawakening old paranoias like tearing the scab off of a wound he'd thought had healed. Walking to clear his mind and get a drink from the sparkling brook, Lionstar's leisure was cut short as an enormous wad of moss - big enough to lose a kit inside - hurtled toward him. He moved aside instinctively, watching the ball complete it's trajectory as it crashed into one of the tall sides of the ancient stump, a few feathers coming loose from the collision.
Amused and expecting to see a couple of exuberant apprentices come running up after their giant moss ball, his humor turned to surprise as he saw Honeysong, struggling up out of the dirt and leaf-mould. Lionstar's whiskers twitched, a low chuckling purr in his throat. "Are you alright? I think the moss ball was a bit ambitious, Honeysong." He glanced back at the amalgamation of moss and feathers. "Tell me you weren't headed to the nursery with that. I think it'll eat Silentsong's kits." And wouldn't THAT be a fun thing to explain to their father? 'Hello Zephyrfang, we lost your newborn kits inside a giant moss ball. I'm sure they're fine.'
Lionstar snorted at his own silliness, shaking his head as though to discard those childish thoughts. Walking over to his Clanmate, he leaned in briefly to sniff for injury, but she seemed, for the most part, unharmed.

She was huffing at her own brief attack of clumsiness when she heard Lionstar's voice and jolted. "Ah, hello Lionstar." She greeted him softly as she pawed at her shoulders and chest to pat off the debris that covered her front both from the less than graceful fall to the ground and from pushing the moss ball all the way back to camp. "It was supposed to be enough to clear out all the dens once it was properly dried out. I wanted to spare some additional time going out for new moss each time, leave everyone a bit more time to hunt and a bit less nest cleaning duties." Unless they were being punished, which was a potential thing. The she-cat shook herself and settled her fur, making sure she'd picked most of the debris out of her pelt before sitting down to talk to her leader for a few moments. After all, she still had to go round up the moss ball. "I wanted to surprise everyone. I found a large area where its still growing thick and soft, and I've been gathering it all day." She dipped her head. "Only the softest moss is good enough for our queens, after all." Our meaning the clan queens, of course. She gave him a lop-sided smile. "Perhaps I should have gotten a few of the apprentices to come with me. The result would have been better with more paws." Though she'd left plenty of moss for regrowing and later needs. Fawn

LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun Lionstar purred, glancing back at the moss ball. "Impressive that you got it this far." He feigned a sly look, whispering conspiratorially. "Are you sure there aren't a few mice in there?" It was amusing to picture her rolling that ball all through the forest, only to pick up a few pieces of prey along the way, purely by accident.
Honeysong was easy to talk to; there were few cats left now that were from his 'kithood' and 'apprentice' moons, as it were. He'd been ten moons old when Skyfall, Swandive and Whiteclaw had been born, eleven when Lionsong was born, and already a young warrior by the time Sandstrike, Sorrelflower, Mistfur, Emberstorm, Lichenfrost, Sprucefur and Appleshade had come along.
Honeysong was eight moons younger than him - he had one paw in the warriors' den by the time she was made an apprentice, but he remembered her, along with Thornstrike, Luckeyes, and Willowfur, and of course the few he had lost; Stormchaser, his best friend, and Bloodtalon. Feeling nostalgic, Lionstar smiled at her, remembering the moons that felt like ages upon ages ago. "Ah, that reminds me. I have a question for you. It's nearly time for Firepaw's assessment. I've already spoken to Skyfall, but another set of eyes couldn't hurt. Would you be willing to oversee her assessment? It's still half moon or so away, but I thought I'd give every cat an early heads up."
She was nearing the end of her training, and he couldn't be more proud of her. Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem

She looked at the moss ball consideringly for a long moment, actually thinking about the question. "I don't know, might be good to have the apprentices nearby when that thing gets rolled out to be dried. Good practice, small prey scrambling everywhere heading for the trees. Might be a squirrel in there for all I know." She tipped her head at her old friend and flashed a smile. "Terrible." But she was laughing, her voice low and lilting. After a moment she settled and sighed, looking away from her leader towards the Clan's main living area with consideration coloring her gaze. "It's grown so much since we were apprentices, hasn't it? So many new cats, and so many new rules." She returned her gaze to the golden tom, offering another smile. It was easy being around him, he made her feel safe. But of course, she was sure he made many a cat feel safe simply by his very being. He was a very good cat. "And we ourselves have come a long way. Not such the show-off anymore, and me not so very tiny." It had been her greatest concern, that she'd be a tiny warrior when she grew into adulthood. She was on the normal side for a she-cat, which pleased her. Honeysong blinked once when he mentioned his young apprentice. "Of course! It would be my pleasure. You do well by your apprentices, Lionstar." She absently butted against his shoulder with her head. "She'll be fine, and TreeClan will have another fine warrior and huntress to provide for and protect it." Fawn

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem Pride warmed him like sunlight on this leaf-fall day, a purr rumbling out of the golden tom to try to convey even half of what he was feeling. "TreeClan is flourishing. Sometimes, it's good to pause and remember everything that's been accomplished. I feel confident that Bluejay and Gorsetail will be both give many moons of service to the Clan." And by StarClan, was that a weight off his mind. TreeClan had been strengthened. The roots had thickened and were digging in deep, where the chill of leaf-fall and the frost of leaf-bare could not destroy them.Honeysong would know of his... poor luck with holding a deputy or medicine cat for long. First there had been Smallshine, the first deputy he'd ever appointed, then Daringheart, Thunderclaw, Meadowleaf and now Gorsetail, spanning 36 moons since he had first risen to the rank of leader. And those were just the deputies. Spottedfeather had been a capable young healer, taken too soon by greencough - and then the resulting apprentice, a loner by the name of Elder who became Elderpaw, had not lasted long enough to finish his training. But then StarClan sent him a sign in the form of Littletimber, but now he too had passed on to join their ancestors in Silverpelt, leaving only Bluejay. It was worriesome, but Bluejay had reassured him that she was taking on an apprentice to help prepare for leaf-bare. He trusted her judgment; she hadn't been wrong yet.The soft press of Honeysong's head against his shoulder had him jolting out of his thoughts; he made a show of glancing over her with scrutiny. "I don't know, Honeysong. You're still pretty tiny from my perspective." He was not a small cat, and his dense fur made him appear even larger; seldom did he get the chance to tease like this (except maybe with his sisters), so Lionstar relished the opportunity."You're right, though. Firepaw's nearly ready, and she'll be a great warrior for the Clan." Time to start considering names. She had such a strong spirit and a can-do attitude - but there was mischief and warmth there, also. 'Firepaw' was a pretty fitting name in and of itself. Firespirit? Fireheart? Firewing? Firefeather? Firesong? There was time to figure it out.leader of TreeClan

"You are our leader, of course TreeClan is flourishing." She tipped her head, watching him in a sideways gaze. "And you did mentor both Bluejay and Gorsetail when their times came. So perhaps that contributed to their success." Had she been her younger self she would have said that he was extrordinary or something equally as silly. He was a good leader, but no one was perfect outside of StarClan's grace. Despite everything the clan had been through since Lionstar had become leader he'd held them together, they hadn't fractured. They'd been through greencough, for StarClan's sake! She knew he'd died before, and still managed to keep them together as a clan despite how traumatic that had to have been. That was good enough for her. Now, if they could get through leaf-fall and leafbare without anything else going catestropically wrong she would be pleased. After all, it did seem as if both their deputy and medicine cat positions had some sort of darkness hanging over them. It seemed to be better with Bluejay and Gorsetail settled in, but she would feel better when both had maintained the position for at least a full season. Honeysong sighed then let out a low hiss at his teasing remark, scraping her paw against the ground until she'd gathered a small paw of dirt and flung it at him. "Still big enough to deal with you, you big show off." She told him sweetly. She wasn't actually angry at him in the slightest, in fact it pleased her that he was still willing to tease and play with those that knew him before he'd become leader. She started laughing and backed away from him, fully expecting repricussion for her action. The discussion of Firepaw would continue eventually, for now the she-cat was swaying her long fluffy tail behind her and giggling at her own actions. Fawn

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem Lionstar ducked, turning a shoulder to the light spray of dirt kicked up from Honeysong's paw, hearing her giggle like a naughty apprentice.
"Still big enough to deal with you, you big show off."
The golden warrior snorted, his gaze light with mischief. "A show-off, am I? You'll regret those words after I swat you back to the apprentices' den!" Lionstar dropped into a playful crouch, his tail swaying behind him like a dancing golden serpent, his expression a mixture of intent and mirth both. It had been a long time since he'd forgotten his own rank enough to play like this; StarClan it had been ages. Unconscious of the closeness of camp and the potential onlookers they were going to have, Lionstar charged, watching with a flash of glee in his amber gaze as Honeysong swerved out of grabbing distance and took off away from camp. Chasing after the fluffy lilac tail of the she-cat, Lionstar swatted the end of it not just once, but twice, laughing as she tried to speed up. When they were a good distance from camp, Lionstar suddenly halted, enormous paws stomping flat into the leaf-mould near a collection of uninteresting toadstools; panting lightly, the golden warrior immediately leaped to the trunk of a nearby sycamore. Placing one paw up at a time, he climbed quickly and as stealthily as a cat of his bulk could manage. Wrapping his forepaws around a thick bough, he heaved himself up and slunk along the branch, letting the foliage obscure his golden, dark-ticked form from Honeysong's gaze. Let's see how long it takes her to notice I'm not right behind her. Crouching on the bough, Lionstar waited, suppressing a small fanged smile from his hiding place. leader of TreeClan 287 | Justice | notes: I hope this post is okay. "A show-off am I?"She didn't hear the rest of what he said to her since she took off at a run when he charged after her, laughing the entire way. She bounced through bushes and dashed around trees, letting her smaller frame be her advantage. She was fast, but Lionstar had longer legs than she did, and they were both long standing hunters and warriors. But it wasn't a fight, they were playing, both of them agile and swift and in their natural environment. The forest was theirs, the clan was safe and this moment was one she'd hold fondly in her memory for moons to come. Getting Lionstar, their esteemed leader, to play like a kit. When he swatted her tail the first time she actually squealed, yowling hilariously as she leaped into the air. The second time she skittered to one side and fell right into a large pile of fallen leaves with a crash. Honeysong came out of the pile with a peal of soft laughter, her sides starting to heave from the run and the weaving through the forest. She actually went a little further before realizing no one was behind her and sliding to a stop. She looked around, eyes and ears darting all around in search of the larger tom. "Lionstar." She lilted his name, crouching in the grass and piles of leaves as she started back the way she'd come. "Where are you?" So he wanted her to find him? She'd find him alright, then pounce on him and take off again. She hadn't played like this since she was an apprentice, and even then it had been with kits only slightly smaller than her. Fawn

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem "Lionstar, where are you?"Honeysong's warm lilt reached him from his leafy hiding place, he watched as the lilac-furred she-cat passed beneath the bough he was perched upon. In his moment of mischief, it was easy for Lionstar to forget how much he didn't care for heights or for climbing as a whole (ironic that the leader of TreeClan doesn't care to climb trees). He'd enjoyed it more as an apprentice, when his oversized paws and long claws had come in handy when scaling the oaks and pines and spruces populating TreeClan's forest. Now, however, after over 50 moons of hard training and living the life of a warrior, he was heavier, his body dense with muscle that made him difficult to knock over but also made for unpleasant climbing. The bough creaked under his weight, so he scooted back to the wider end, his muscles bunching as he leaped down lightly just behind Honeysong. "Right here!"He smiled slyly into the startled she-cat's face as she turned around, and pounced, intending to knock her back into the nearby pile of green, yellow, orange and red maple leaves, looking forward to the satisfying crunch. Somewhere up above, Sagefur was chuckling down at his former apprentice, pleased to see that Lionstar was embracing a common rule of thumb Sagefur had tried to burn into the tom's mind; being a Clan leader was no excuse not to have fun every now and then. leader of TreeClan

Honeysong We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold58 Moons, Senior Warrior of TreeClan She'd been stalking, body low to the ground as she searched for the golden tom cat. It didn't even occur to her to look up, and so when he landed behind her and called out she leapt straight up into the air with a yowl and spun around to face him.
Of course she was thrown off balance and he was able to knock her much smaller form into the large pile of fallen leaves. She went paws over tail, rolling backward into the pile and sending leaves flying as her body crunched in the pile. She sat up in the pile and shook herself, though a stubborn orange leaf still clung to her head.
Honeysong scowled at the tom for a long moment, riling up like she'd get angry, then burst into laughter. "You scared me so bad!" She told him, her slender frame shaking as she laid there in the leaves. She stayed that way for some time before rolling back to her paws and giving a hard shake to rid herself of the debris of the leaf pile.
"I haven't done this in too long." She flicked her tail one final time as she left the pile behind, just to be sure. The lilac she cat went right back to her companion and butted her head against his shoulder again. She had a big smile on her face and her eyes were bright with the simple happiness of being able to play again.
"Its good to just play sometimes, isn't it?"

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem With a laughing purr, Lionstar reached up and swatted the orange leaf out of the fur at the top of her head, batting it away. "Neither have I. It's not very dignified - playing around like an apprentice again. I should be ashamed." There was a glitter in his eyes and a warm lilt to his tone that suggested he was anything but. He hadn't realized how... wary he had become these past few moons. Wary and weary. It was leaf-fall, he had good reason to be concerned, but at the same time... It was important to let things simply be, and to spend time with the cats who were still in his life. Who still mattered to him. "I'll help you lay out the moss to try." He felt the sunlight warm his wind-cooled fur, enjoying the heat between his shoulders and on the back of his neck. Lionstar was reluctant to leave this sun-warmed part of the woods behind, but they had duties to complete. "I almost expect Sandfur or Sagefur to come find me, tell me I've missed a few ticks on the elders' pelts again." Referencing his mother, Sandfur, who was an elder now and the mother of his half-sisters, Rowanberry and Silverfern, and referencing Sagefur, the cat who had mentored him.He owed a lot to that tom; feeling nostalgic and with a few touches of lamentation in his heart for the deceased senior warrior, Lionstar looked back in the direction of camp, as if he could still picture the faces from history staring back at him, an earlier TreeClan preparing for leaf-bare and going about their lives. He almost... missed it. There were many things he loved about TreeClan now, but he would be lying if he said his life hadn't been easier back then. Where his only focus had been earning his warrior name and trying to impress his father, Badgerstripe, before his father's death, before the fall of his hero when it was discovered Badgerstripe had fathered another litter... Before he became deputy, before Sagefur's death, before the loss of Distantstar and before he was thrust into the role of leader after barely two moons.Life was so simple, before.leader of TreeClan

Honeysong We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we lie in fields of gold58 Moons, Senior Warrior of TreeClan Dignified? She snorted then burst into laughter again, especially as he continued to say he should be ashamed. "I half expect someone to come over and scold us for not acting our ages." She shook herself again then sat down to regard Lionstar quietly. "I may not be a medicine cat, but I do know that it isn't good for any cat, especially one that's in the place of a leader, to over stress themselves. Taking time, even just a moment, for yourself every now and again isn't bad. The clan won't fall apart because you took that moment." She stood and flicked her tail at him, offering a smile. "Its good to remember what it is we keep fighting for, and what it is we protect. The clan is more than those that make it up, its in how we interact with each other too. A strong clan take care of each other, after all." And didn't StarClan know how true that was? If clanmates didn't care about each other then what was the purpose of even being in a clan?
As they headed back towards camp she ambled at his side, head tipped just slightly. She was happy to have given him a respite, just a moment for himself, and for his clanmates. She'd always enjoyed his company, and would always remain one of those that supported him in whatever way she could.
Time had not been kind to him, and well she knew. She remembered how her heart broke for him after every blow he suffered, after all the pain and disappointment. Too much happened, and it was always to a cat that didn't deserve so much trauma in his life, but StarClan had its reasons. She'd had her share of misfortune as well. She sighed and briefly brushed her side against his, a sort of way to tell him she wanted his attention.
"Please, Lionstar, remember that there will always be those of us that worry for you and want you to be happy. You aren't alone. If you ever need an ear, or advice, or even just someone to listen well..." She ducked her head. "I am a senior warrior, and I know how hard life can be. I will always be there to help however I can."

Proud that she was his Clanmate; proud that the problems he faced seemed smaller when he had such a kind-hearted group of warriors, queens, kits and apprentices to call TreeClan. They were named for their trees, it was obvious, but Lionstar firmly believed that they could have acres of forest to themselves, but it wouldn't matter if they didn't care about one another as strongly as they did."Thank you, Honeysong." A warm tongue rasped over her ears to express his thanks. "I won't forget again." He wasn't alone. Lionstar's ears twitched forward, picking up the happy, busy ambiance of the camp. There had been dark times, but those endless nights seemed behind them; they were finally walking into the sunshine. Even if leafbare was approaching, he felt... content.Hopeful, even. It was not the benign, naive hope of a cat who couldn't help but be optimistic in spite of rational thought. It was the growing confidence of a leader who saw those whom he led working well with one another, united in their goal to prepare for the harshness of winter.
