Name: Nightsky
Age: 22 moons
Gender: tom
Clan: TreeClan
Rank: Warrior
Picture:
Description:
Born of a not too healthy mother in the middle of leafbare, Nightsky is on the small side of things. He will never be very large or imposing, tending toward the lanky and lithe, with a slim, quick frame once he reaches full growth. His sleek fur is fairly short, but for his long tail, which is a feathery plume to match his mother's. He is jet black in color, for the most part, with a small triangle of white on his chest, and white on the middle two toes of his forepaws being the only markings to break up his dark coat. His eyes are bright green, like mature foliage in greenleaf.
Description Summary: A small black tom with a white spot on his chest, white toes, and bright green eyes.
Personality:
Nightsky is a quiet tom, often described as shy, though it isn't quite accurate. Nightsky is more than willing to talk with any cat, he just doesn't often initiate conversation, especially not with cats he has never met before. He is reserved, content to keep to himself for the most part. He enjoys watching other cats, observing and analyzing those around him. Curious and intelligent, he will always be ready to learn something new. He seems to have trouble relating to others and is rather socially awkward, tending toward the logical rather than the emotional. His emotional responses are often delayed and muted, or even cold and tactless, which can put other cats off to him. He is not incapable of regular emotion, it just takes a lot of time and effort on other cats' parts to get him to care enough that a given situation would ever affect him emotionally, and most cats just don't bother to try.
He much prefers the night to the day, associating it with his mother, for the night brings the stars, where she now dwells, and from the stories he's been told of her, she also preferred the night, when the sun could not harm her. This affinity for the night is yet another thing that often has his Clanmates viewing him as abnormal, and it has developed into a slight issue for him when it comes to fulfilling his duties in TreeClan. Drawn to the night sky, he often does not get enough sleep, and is tired and less effective during the day. It is more ironic to him than anything that he was named Nightkit. He catches sleep whenever he can during the day, which comes off as laziness to his Clanmates.
At his core, Nightsky wants to be a good TreeClan cat. He wants to serve the Clan his mother brought him into, he works hard, over working himself most of the time in attempt to compensate for his inefficiency due to his self induced sleep deprivation. However this lifestyle is bound to lead him to become sick easily if he doesn't change, especially as he was a sickly and weak kit to begin with and his immune system is not what it should be. He is quite reckless when it comes to his own life, placing little value on it. It isn't that he thinks himself worthless, he just feels a great emptiness and quite figure out how to fill it, and doesn't see a greater purpose for his life currently, and so finds himself expendable in the grand scheme of things.
History:
Born in the middle of a harsh leafbare, Nightkit was not destined for a happy family life. His mother Pinkcloud had been quite soundly conned and used by his father, Magpiewing. She had thought he loved her, and he had played the part well while it suited him. However, the tom quickly bored of her, and when Pinkcloud gave him only a single, sickly kit that Littletimber wasn't even certain would survive, Magpiewing decided to play one last cruel game with her and made his displeasure known, telling Pinkcloud in no uncertain terms that he would have nothing to do with her or her kit and going so far as to accuse her of cheating on him. Magpiewing soon moved on and found a new mate, never acknowledging his son with Pinkcloud, even after she died only a few days after his birth.
Another queen in the nursery had kits only a moon older than him and nursed him until he was old enough to be weaned, taking pity on the poor orphaned tom. Nightkit grew up being told about his mother and how unfortunate it was he never really got to meet her. He was told he was named after his grandfather, who he apparently looked very similar too: Nighthawk. After witnessing the queen's mate come to visit her and her kits, he asked about his father a couple times, though the question was deflected at first. The third time he asked, he was finally told the truth, that his father didn't want to know him, and that seeking out a relationship with him would only hurt him. So he stopped asking and stopped caring, after realizing his father didn't care about him.
His mother's littermate, Bluejay, visited him often, and he came to love her more than any cat in his life. He visited her as often as he was allowed to, fascinated and intrigued by the medicine den where she lived with Littletimber. When newleaf finally came, he started sitting outside the nursery at night to look up at the stars, wondering which one was his mother. Even after he finally became an apprentice, he continued to stay up late into the night to watch the stars, as though afraid he would miss some message from his mother. He was apprenticed Gorsetail, his mother's mentor, who became deputy while he was under his tutelage. Gorsetail became the closest thing to a father Nightpaw had ever had, and he came to love the tom like family. His apprenticeship was fairly uneventful and he earned his warrior name, Nightsky.
Fate cruelly ripped his loving aunt Bluejay away from him during a greencough epidemic, leaving Nightsky feeling lost, the void in his heart becoming even larger. He did not know how to deal with her loss but to search the sky frantically every night, trying to find her star. After telling Rushwhisker, the RainClan tom who he found out had loved Bluejay, about her death, he felt a little better, the tom doing his best to reassure him that Bluejay would never leave him. He still keenly feels Bluejay's loss, though he has mostly come to terms with it, but he fears having Gorsetail torn away from him as well.
