The day started out like any other for the she-cat. She was awoken at sunrise for training with Blackwolf, but today there was a slight twist. What she thought was going to be a training session, ended up in her being told that she was about to watch Hollykit for the day. Nightpaw didn't know how she was going to deal with this, but she would do her best. She knew that Blackwolf cherished his family, even if he didn't show it. Nightpaw had agreed to watch over the she-kit. She wondered why it was only Hollykit though, and that was when she was told that the she-kit was a troublemaker, and it was Nightpaw's job to keep her out of trouble. That was going to be fun.

So now, here is the black and white she-cat walking over to the nursery. She poked her head in to see that Ghostlight was still asleep, as were most of the kits in the den with their mother's except one. She heard rustling and figured that it had to be Hollykit. But she wasn't about to walk into the den and wake the others up, so she just sat outside the den and waited. She loved kits, which was probably why she was happy to do this, but she also wanted her mentor to feel like her could trust her, and that she was worthwhile still.

Nightpaw wrapped her tail around her paws and she stared at the camp. The others were starting to rouse and do their chores. But since Nightpaw had woken early expecting a training lesson, she had gotten most of her chores done already. All that was really left was changing the Elder's nests. Maybe she would take Hollykit with her, so the she-cat could at least just sit there and listen to the stories that the elder's loved to tell all the time. She didn't know just yet, and she knew that she had to keep the kit out of trouble, which by the sounds of it, was going to be hard.

Hollykit was not often the first to wake up amongst her siblings - that title went to Bonekit, who was, as agreed upon by all who knew him, a smaller reflection of their father in personality. Blackwolf wasn't one to laze about the camp, not when there was work to be done and apprentices to harass; Hollykit, on the other paw, enjoyed her beauty rest. There were moments when she fully embraced the indulgent nature of the Clan towards kits and queens, loving the fact that food was brought to them, even though she longed to try hunting for herself.

This was a rare morning, however, and the black kitten could be seen stumbling out of the nursery to stretch in the fragile sunlight that filtered in through the opening of the cavern. The morning was made rarer still with the presence of Nightpaw, her father's apprentice; it was a little like having an older step-sibling - Blackwolf dividing his time between his blood family and his obligation, though from what she knew of their relationship, Nightpaw was nowhere near treated as badly as say, Ratfur or Oakblaze. A grass-green gaze swept across the busy cavern interior, before returning to the warm hollow that comprised the nursery, milkscent still clinging to her pelt though she and her siblings had already started eating fresh prey. I should wake up those toadbrains. Wait a minute, should? Hollykit rarely had any sort of obligation - that was the fun of being a kit, after all; she wasn't in charge of making sure Bonekit and Coyotekit didn't sleep the whole day away.

Noticing that Nightpaw hadn't left, it took her but a moment to realize that Nightpaw was, in a sense, kit-sitting in place of Blackwolf. An inquisitive stare drew level with the apprentice's gaze, Hollykit's tail swishing as she worked over this new piece of information; alright, she'd behave for now, but only until her siblings woke up. Then, once her accomplice and her lackey were walking and talking instead of snoring in a heap against Ghostlight, she would attempt to pull the moss over Nightpaw's eyes and sneak into Ravenstar's den.

Grooming down the fur on her throat, Hollykit spoke up. "Can we go outside? It's cold down here, I want to warm my pelt in the sun." There was honesty in this request; she really was rather cool, the stone floors, walls and ceilings didn't lend itself much heat, even on a greenleaf morning; plus, there was nothing like settling onto a sunny patch of earth and letting your fur warm up.

Her left ear flicked behind her as she heard the small and soft pawsteps of a kit. She knew the scent well, and it was Hollykit. She sighed inwardly, for she was warned of the little kit, she could be a troublemaker, but Nightpaw didn't mind that, as long as it kept her busy and not wanting to fall asleep. She soon heard the rasping of a tongue on fur and she looked down to see Hollykit sitting beside her and grooming the fur on her throat. She chuckled lightly at her question then. "As long as you promise to not cause any problems. We could always go and see if any of the elder's want to tell a story." She remembered back to when she was a kit, she was always listening to the Elder's talk and she loved it. She hoped that she could find something that would keep Hollykit in a good and non trouble making mood.

But then, her own siblings were the same way, and she knew that their mentors had a hard time with them. Maybe it was just the way of the cat. Maybe it depended on the blood ties. Blackwolf was a strict and harsh tom, but Hollykit seemed to be a little more like her mother, but with some trouble making traits. As Nightpaw thought of this, she had risen to her paws and was walking out of the den. She was not going to complain about being with the kits, for she enjoyed their company sometimes. But as the sun hit Nightpaw's own fur, she felt warmer. She had to agree with the kit, the sun was better than sitting in that den all day. She felt warmer, and a little more hyper than before, which was probably not good at all.

But she soon found a good sunny spot to lay in the camp and she motioned for Hollykit to come and lay with her. After she settled she looked at the kit and purred lightly. "How have you and you siblings been Hollykit?" She was going to strike up some kind of conversation so that they were not just sitting in silence, though sometimes, that might be best.

"As long as you promise to not cause any problems. We could always go and see if any of the elder's want to tell a story."

Hollykit resisted the urge to roll her eyes; another story from the elders? They were so boring, and you had to shout to make sure they heard you, so the whole camp could hear what was going on! There were probably twenty other things the she-kitten could think to do apart from visiting the elders (and twenty things was a lot when you were only 3 moons old), and none of which were things Nightpaw would let her get away with, probably. Unless her father's apprentice had some sort of secret fun side to her - which Hollykit wasn't so sure about.
"I'd rather just stay here in the sun," she responded, continuing her grooming routine. At least until Bonekit and Coyotekit wake up. Then they could regroup and decide how they would spend their sunrise, a decision that probably included sneaking away from their kitsitter to see what sort of interesting discoveries could be made around camp (or, if they were all feeling adventurous this morning, outside of camp). Waiting for her siblings, Hollykit still chose to enjoy the fact that there was nothing that immediately needed doing - no duties to attend to, after all, she didn't have to worry about changing any bedding or checking the elders' pelts for ticks. There was definitely a reason that was a punishment.

The she-kitten rolled onto her back, allowing the sun to warm up the plush dark fur covering her underside, a warm, contented purr escaping a black throat, leaf-green eyes narrowed to keep out most of the rays while still surveying their surroundings. It was so nice to be out of the nursery. "Sleeping, like usual." Said Hollykit, realizing after a couple seconds of delay that Nightpaw had asked her a question; her lazy furball brothers were probably still nestled against Ghostlight, acting more like they were a single moon old, not three (which, clearly meant they were too old to be behaving like kits, despite that being exactly what they were).

Hollykit's left eye slid closed, but the right was trained on Nightpaw, a question forming in the silence, and then spoken aloud. "Is it really such a big deal? Being an apprentice." Despite being phrased in such a way that might be perceived as rudeness, there was obvious curiosity in her tone; what she really meant was, is it FUN being an apprentice? Is it worth it? She'd be one soon, and then there was no telling what she could accomplish with a little training under her...

She could see the hidden eye roll from the kit and she sighed. She was a lot like her father already, but she was still like her mother too. Nightpaw knew that this was going to be an interesting day for she could tell that the she-kit was already plotting, and when kits plot, they get into trouble. Nightpaw would know, she got into trouble as well. She actually missed it sometimes as well, but she was an apprentice now, she had to be behaved right? Or would she be able to get away with one day of causing trouble to keep an eye on a kit? Blackwolf would make her clean the Elder's den no matter what so, what was the harm?

Nightpaw thought of the many things that she and Duskpaw had done as kits, while Daypaw had stayed with Heronthroat, but that was the past, that was already so many moons ago. But she looked down at the she-kit as she spoke and she purred a chuckled. "But that doesn't sound like much fun now does it." She watched as the kit rolled over to sun her underbelly and she purred lightly. She laid down next to the kit and she looked around the camp. She heard the response about how she and her brother's had been doing and she knew that all too well.

But when the kit asked about apprenticeship, she looked at her and she thought on it. "It can be fun, and it can be hard. You get to meet many new cats when you go to gatherings, and when you are here, you are doing chores and learning new things. I would say that i defiantly had more fun as a kit, but being an apprentice isn't so bad either." She mused her thoughts almost absentmindedly, but her gaze was still on the kit.
