LIONSTAR
TreeClan || 39 Moons
Time to get this matter settled before he waits any longer.
Lionstar was not at all ignorant to the current tension between Mountainpaw, an unusually quiet brown tom and Lionsong, the fairly young she-cat he had reassigned the opinionated brown tom to. He had not anticipated the sort of difficulties they had encountered - Mountainpaw with his probing questions and civil disobedience, and Lionsong discussing a delay on his warrior ceremony that had been put in place.
Sometimes no matter how much you want to change a cat, it's just not within your abilities. From an outsider's perspective looking in on this situation, Mountainpaw had the physical abilities of a warrior and the hunting knowledge of a warrior - he was wholly equipped for the next stage of his life, however, that did not mean he was mentally prepared for it.
Apart from the temper tantrum, Lionstar had not originally felt a delay in his warrior ceremony to be necessary, but after talking with Lionsong as well as Longstripe to get a proper assessment of Mountainpaw's personality, he had reached the conclusion that waiting would perhaps be for the best. Mountainpaw's anger was not something he wanted carried over into warriorhood, and while Lionsong had over-reacted in denying the brown tom his ceremony over a simple mistake, the punishment had not been completely without merit, nor would it be useless.
Intending to check up on them both - Mountainpaw first, Lionstar rose up from the patch of sunlight he had been enjoying just outside of his den, pleased that the seasons had changed for the better, that prey was more plentiful and the forest was as alive as ever. Newleaf. Perhaps Mountainpaw and Lionsong would be able to turn over a new leaf as well? Approaching the apprentices' den, he spotted the solid brown tom after a few seconds of searching; Lionstar called in.
"Mountainpaw, come with me. Let's go for a walk."
This casual statement delivered, the muscular golden tom turned away from the bramble-crowded den opening to cross the TreeClan clearing, signaling Daringheart to come off to the side for a quick word.
"I'm going to resolve this matter between Mountainpaw and Lionsong, though I want to make sure I have all of my facts correct before I make any decisions. Outside of the incident with the snow and the threats to Lionsong herself, is there any other reason why Mountainpaw's ceremony should be delayed further?" The wind blew his whiskers back against his muzzle, golden eyes a mixture of seriousness and curiosity.
Daringheart had not been deputy by the time this incident had taken place, but just as he had requested, she had been helping to keep an eye on things between mentors and their apprentices. Though his attention was divided fifty different ways at the moment, Lionstar felt he could rely on her to fill in any gaps before he and Mountainpaw began their 'walk'.
