A cooling wind sifted through the tall trees of Treeclan's territory, flooding the pre-Greenleaf forest with the small amount of scentage left by prey that was starting to spring back to life with the changing of the season. Gentle green eyes looked around, glancing up at the tips of the trees, where their budding branches let the sun peak through and shine bright on patches of the soft, spongy ground. The white she-cat warrioress of Treeclan padded along on her soft paws through the regrowing undergrowth of the forest. Her pawsteps soft and near silent as she slipped around, getting slightly distracted of what she was out there to do. Hunt.
Said she-cat's ears twitched and swirvled around when she heard slight whispering in a general direction from near where she was. Her tail flickered as she headed in the way in which said whispers were drawing her too. Her pawsteps led her through the winding maze of the large trees as she softly neared the voice... voices, no deffinatly just one voice. There were two cats now, and the slight breeze gave her the scent of one of her clanmates. She knew the scent, but it was mixed with another scent, one that didn't belong to the clans and it was throwing her scent detector off of which clanmate was out her with this loner... or rogue.
Bright green eyes peaked around a tree as she spotted her clanmate with a loner, from what she could see, as they were a bit farther down in the forest, but still in her line of sight as she watched the two embrace with a florish of purrs and gentle touches from their tail or fur brushing togther. They were happy and Gentlebreeze could see that easily. She was a romantic and things like this would make her purr with delight and a warmth flood through her body. But at the moment, she was slightly worried about her fellow Treeclanner getting caught by anyone else. Luckily her brother, Adderstrike, wasn't here, he would have run that loner off and taken his tail as well. But Gentlebreeze wasn't Adderstrike, the white she-cat looked around with her green eyes and stepped forwards to snap a branch with her paw, flicking her ears.

[smear:000000]Broken[/smear:ff6633][smear:ff6633]song[/smear:ffffff] ~~~~~~~~~~~ The tortoiseshell tabby always felt so giddy around the tom. Normally, she tried to meet him under cover of the night. There was less to be concerned about, less of a chance that someone might catch them that way. Today, however, was different. What the she-cat didn't know yet was just how different, and potentially important this day would end up being. With a final, gentle nuzzle, Brokensong and Zuma parted ways. She was watching him bound away when something caught her attention.
A scent travelled on the wind. If she were to try, she was certain she would be able to place it. At that particular moment, she found herself far too entranced watching the tom bound away. Her heart fluttered, and to others it would be painfully obvious that Brokensong was enamoured, struck by Cupid's Arrow, if such a thing had existed in their world. It wasn't until a sound snagged her attention that Brokensong felt her heart race for a different reason.
The sound of a twig collapsing beneath the weight of something had her ears swivelling instinctively, her head swinging to face the direction in which the sound had come from. Hazel-green eyes were stretched wide in alarm as she scanned the undergrowth, looking for whatever had made the sound. It seemed that at exactly the same moment, both her nose and her gaze figured it out. Her attention focused completely on the she-cat before her. It took a moment but she was able to pin the name Gentlebreeze upon this particular cat.
Her ears pivoted again, laying flat on her head. She began padding towards Gentlebreeze, desperately attempting to calm her galloping heart. Her paws steps were slightly slower than they would normally be, as the giddiness had yet to completely drain from her system. Paired with the sudden alarm of an unexpected visitor... Brokensong was certain that if she moved any faster than this, she would simply end up tripping herself.
Her ears were still laying on her head, her tail flicking nervously. She offered a cautious smile. What had she seen? How much did she know? Would she tell someone? As Brokensong approached the she-cat who could potentially end it all for her, Brokensong felt her stomach clench slightly, growing heavier with each step that brought her near.

The white she-cat watched as Brokensong's expression changed from happy to fearful in a matter of seconds. The Treeclan warrioress suddenlty feared that she had upset the mute she-cat that was padding towards her in a hurried step. Oh no, did Brokensong think that she would tell on her. Of course not, but she didn't know that. Gentlebreeze waited for Brokensong to near her before speaking, best not let all of Treeclan know that the white she-cat was about to take the wrap for the mute warrior.
"Good day Brokensong." Gentlebreeze started out with a gentle purr to ease the troubled mind of Brokensong as she padded up by her side. "I have never seen you so happy. I hope that you'll introduce me sometime?" She purred, her bright green eyes held such a romantic and loving expression that there was no way that the Treeclan warrior was mad at Brokensong's betrayl of the Warrior Code. "Come, let's go hunting so it looks like we were out together, ok." She flicked her tail and lead the way through the thicket and towards where a couple of birds were speaking to each other in their high pitched language. "Besides I'm sure all the kits would love a bird or two, they just love the feathers." She purred happily.
The white she-cat knew she was taking a risk in protecting a she-cat she barely knew, and with something as big as breaking the warrior code to see a cat outside the clans. But Gentlebreeze was a romantic, she lived for love and to see the mute she-cat more happy than when is has ever been inside her own clan, Gentlebreeze just couldn't destroy that. Her purr rumbled in her throat as she stopped and flicked her tail, catching sight of two crow on the ground, picking away, most likely for worms. "One for each of us." She whispered over her shoulder, green eyes bright.

[smear:000000]Broken[/smear:ff6633][smear:ff6633]song[/smear:ffffff] ~~~~~~~ The silent she-cat could only remind herself to breathe evenly as she approached the other she-cat. The pretty tortoiseshell tabby's tail flicked behind her nervously as she padded forward, hazel-green eyes trying to gauge a reaction from the older cat. What would she have to say concerning her actions? Brokensong knew that this wasn't a part of the warrior code, that she was breaking it when she went to visit Zuma, but she just couldn't help it. Everything felt right when she was with him.
Much to her dismay, the distance between Gentlebreeze and herself suddenly seemed to vanish and she found herself standing near the older she-cat. Her tail was still in its dance of nerves as her gaze flashed from place to place, unable to hold the she-cat's bright green stare. That all stopped, however, when she heard the white she-cat speak. Off-hazel eyes widened fractionally and she blinked at Gentlebreeze. She wants to meet him? Instinctively, the patterned she-cat glanced over her shoulder, as though she expected to still see him standing there. Of course he was long gone, and though she felt a small pang of longing, she was distracted by this most bizarre happening. Slowly, she nodded her head, offering a gentle, but obviously confused smile. Expressive eyes looked at the she-cat in question before her attention was once again taken to something else.
She followed Gentlebreeze's gaze, spotting the two crows hopping along the ground. She gave the white she-cat another nod of her head before banking away to move around the crows. She positioned herself on a side that wasn't the same as Gentlebreeze's, as there was no point in having both of them strike from the same area. She watched the birds carefully, waiting for a moment where they separated slightly. The moment she saw her chance, she glanced up at Gentlebreeze, giving a slight dip of her head when their eyes met. And then she started moving forward, her stance stable and silent. She was good at being silent. She'd had moons of practice after all.
With a practiced bound, she jumped forward, teeth snapping around the bird's neck quickly, allowing her to efficiently deliver a swift killing bite. She glanced up, noting with a gleam in her eye, that the white she-cat had also managed to catch a bird. She deposited the bird on the ground, freeing up her face more. It was one of her tools of communication, not being able to speak. And any way, it made it really hard to smile when you had a crow in your mouth. Brokensong's lips parted in a grin as she gave an excited stomp of her fore paw. She wasn't sure the other she-cat would understand her at all, but it didn't really matter to the beautiful torbie.
Suddenly, Gentlebreeze's words from earlier seemed to really sink in. The older she-cat had told Brokensong to travel and hunt with her so that it looked like they were out together. That meant... She's protecting my secret? Protecting me? Had she been speaking out loud, the wonder and alarm in her voice would have been crystal clear. Instead, it was a flash of confusion through her bright eyes, before she blinked quickly at this she-cat. They'd never spent much time together, barely knew each other, yet the white feline was willing to keep her secret? To give her an alibi? And she wanted to meet Zuma one day... it was all very confusing to Brokensong, and she wanted to ask why.
All she could do however was open her mouth as though she were going to speak. Of course she knew she couldn't, it was just the simplest way to give others the heads up that her next actions were her attempt to speak and not just some mindless thing she was doing out of habit. With a steady gaze, she locked eyes with Gentlebreeze's before tipping her head, the quizzical look on her features evident.
Why?

Looking up from the black feathered bird she had just caught, the white she-cat looked up to see the mute she-cat in front of her was obviously confused. After a moment, the Treeclan warrioress set down the black bird that was occuping her jaws from speaking to Brokensong. Her ears twiched and her haunches folded to allow her to sit down on the soggy ground, her tail curling around her paws as she opened her white jaws to speak to the she-cat infront of her gentle, green gaze.
"I'm sure no-other cat would be so quick to protect you, like I have." Gentlebreeze's voice was as her name started, about as gentle as a breeze. Her green eyes ran over the beautiful she-cat infront of her, before continuing. "But i'm not like most cats, your heart leads your life for love, and one can't help it if that love happens to be outside the cat's clan. I'm not mad at you, of course not. But I am worried, and I will do what I can to help protect your secret."
Gentlebreeze walked over to the she-cat who was about the same age as her younger sister, Moonshimmer, "However, I do require that I must meet the tom who has managed to capture your heart." She purred, her tail brushed against Brokensong's flank gently and comfortingly, a gesture that an older sister would do to calm a younger sibling. "Come on, let's get back to the camp before Lionstar starts to wonder if we've gone and disapeared as well." Her purr thicked as she walked over to pick up her crow.

[smear:000000]Broken[/smear:ff6633][smear:ff6633]song[/smear:ffffff] ~~~~~~~~ The tortoiseshell tabby she-cat's hazel-green eyes blinked slowly as she listened to her Clanmate talk. Every word the white she-cat spoke was more confusing than the next. Brokensong still couldn't understand why this she-cat was protecting her secret. However, she'd been taught to never question a good thing, and this was certainly good. It brought a sweeping sense of relief to her, allowing her shoulders to drop slightly as she relaxed for what felt like moons. It was bizarre how sometimes the best feeling was when a secret you'd been fighting to keep hidden for so long was finally discovered by someone. You were then sharing the secret with them. There wasn't as much weight on your shoulders anymore. And that's exactly how the beautifully patterned she-cat felt now.
When Gentlebreeze mentioned being able to meet him as a sort of payment for keeping her secret, the torbie let a slow, unsure smile spread across her lips, before she gave a dip of her head. The smile turned a little more confident as she beamed at Gentlebreeze. She supposed it seemed fair enough, after all. As Gentlebreeze finished, Brokensong's thoughts were carried to the TreeClan leader. She wondered if he was that aware of his Clan. When you became leader, did you suddenly acquire the ability to be able to keep track of all the cats in your Clan? Or were leaders picked specifically because of that quality? Did Lionstar truly know she existed? Sure, he'd been there when she was born, named an apprentice, and named a warrior, she was, after all, still quite young. That didn't mean that Lionstar was aware of her presence. It was a little hard to make your presence known when you coudln't say a word.
Still, there was no time to dwell on that. With a determined nod of her head, Brokensong picked up the crow she had caught, and moved to Gentlebreeze's side. With a flick of her tail against the white she-cat's flank, to let her know she was there, the pair set off, headed back towards the TreeClan camp.
