Description:
Crowdance – although partially black like the bird listed in her prefix – is not entirely so. She, in fact, sports a fur pigmentation that ranges in shades of black, brown, white and, on specific parts of her body: such as her limbs, stomach and spinal region, charcoal/gray. This particular colour arrangement is tied in with a certain species in particular: the tortoiseshell. Crowdance certainly has no shame in her appearance, actually being rather pleased to be gifted with such a mesmerizing genetic. Paired alongside her captivating gaze of bright, green-blue hue: Crowdance is one to be considered pretty, if not averaging above that standard.
Having longer limbs, Crowdance is naturally tall in stature. She isn't unusually so, just, more than what would be considered normal. Thankfully, her movements are able to be backed up by an efficient grace. If it wasn't for her effortless grasp upon this trait, Crowdance wouldn't be far off from being the lankiest cat in the forest. Compared to her tall, thin frame, Crowdance's paws are quite tiny. Although this allows the tortoiseshell she-cat to slip around silently and, for the most part, undetected... it doesn't match up with her larger size. Amongst all of Crowdance's alluring features, this is very well the only one she has the slightest embarrassment toward.
Description Summary:
A tortoiseshell she-cat with green-blue eyes.
Personality:
Crowdance's multiple hued fur often best portrays a shaggy, all-over-the-place kind of appearance. Considering she already seems somewhat scary behind her warm eyes, this factor doesn't often help. Truth be told, Crowdance is far more generous and kind-hearted than she would likely allow others to so easily be lead to believe. Although she enjoys to paint this malicious, do-or-die type picture for herself, it often fails to be convincing after a few moment's of conversing with this tortoiseshell. A sparkling sense of humour can be noticed within her green-blue eyes, causing her to appear far more inviting than she truly desires to be. Few recognize this about Crowdance, but, she's somewhat shy. Despite the she-cat not being mute; Crowdance often chooses to not use verbal communication to get her point across unless completely necessary. Her shyness is unable to be noticed when she remains silent, however, get this feline to speak aloud, and you may find the quality shining a tad brighter.
Some may detect Crowdance's name amongst the crowd and find themselves curious of the origin. Fact of the matter is: it was entirely coincidental that the prefix of 'crow' be gifted upon her. The bird listed directly in her identification is the only life-form that fascinates Crowdance to an unfathomable extent; beyond even her mild curiousity toward StarClan – with whom she often finds herself caught between doubting and believing. The crow is animal she lives and breaths, often found glancing up into the canopies with the inwardly hope of catching a glimpse of this black creature's stunning feathers amongst the greenery. Is anyone familiarized with the fact crows are to be considered an 'evil omen'? If so, Crowdance would hardly be easy to convince. Her adoration of this ominous, flight-oriented creature may be unusual. However, Crowdance would be the last to care about another's opinion upon it. Everything about the crow makes Crowdance's skin crawl with excitement. It's only a constant dream that she could one day soar alongside them.
Believe it or not, Crowdance isn't fond of sunlight. It's a weird annoyance to have, due to sunlight being a near every day experience. Perhaps, it's simply her desire to morph into the crow itself that causes her to be a night-dweller. Regardless, Crowdance will always be seen blinking hateful eyes in a futile attempt of completely disregarding all traces of sunlight from her vision. In the brightest hours she keeps herself enclosed in the security of a den, or the overhead shadows created by trees. She isn't cold-blood, no. Simply, not warmed in the correct sense when sunlight beats down upon her body.
Crowdance is a logical thinker. She believes that every situation, no matter how odd, is able to have a perfect explanation to explain even the most mysterious of events. Crowdance, not even as a young kit, believed the tall tales told to her by warriors and elders. While her fellow nursery cats gazed up with awe in their eyes, she instead curled up in the far corner with clear boredom lacing her expression. Crowdance, since able to properly walk, was far more fascinated by real adventure than merely the story. She's always preferred to experience the adrenaline herself, instead of having it hammered into her ears – a time when exaggeration could easily cause a situation to appear more intense than it was prior. This logical mind of hers can sometimes have Crowdance lacking faith in the words of her fellow clan cats. Although she doesn't purposefully intend to doubt them, it's often out of her control. It's merely difficult to persuade Crowdance's mind from a state of doubt, to one of belief. Despite not being impossible, it isn't exactly easy, either.
History:
Crowkit was, since able to properly walk, different from the other kits. She didn't possess the same youthful, innocent mischief that the rest did. Instead, often more keen to lounge about inside the nursery where none would be bothered with attempting to stir conversation with her or, even worse, attempt to instigate play fighting. Crowkit wasn't socially awkward, more so, just shy in the presence of other felines. She didn't constantly deprive herself from company. Besides, even if she wanted to do so, her mother, Tawnyleaf, wouldn't allow it.
Crowkit's father wasn't around when she was born. Tawnyleaf had told her – only once Crowkit grew curious and began asking questions – that her father had died a moon or so before she was expected to be born. The cause of his death was never confirmed. Therefore, the majority of Crowkit's suspicions remained unanswered. She wasn't oblivious to the pain speaking about her father seemed to cause Tawnyleaf, though. It was because of this, after a minimum explanation was gathered, she simply stopped inquiring about it out of fear of depressing her mother.
It was shortly after Crowkit stopped asking questions about her father that she was informed of a cousin in the nursery: Larchkit. She was related to the fellow she-cat through Yellowheart, being Tawnyleaf's sister. It was shortly after gathering this information that Crowkit noticed the distaste shared between her mother and aunt. The two never talked, at least, far less than what Crowkit would expect from sisters. She didn't fully know why Tawnyleaf had such dislike for Yellowheart, but she never found herself able to build up the courage to ask, for Tawnyleaf was slowly becoming more and more distant with Crowkit and the rest of StoneClan.
Crowkit wasn't bothered nor annoyed by the lack of motherly guidance she tended to receive due to this. With a maturity beyond her youthful facial features – she was able to recognize the pain her mother likely felt toward the loss of her mate, therefore, didn't disturb her never-ending mourning. If Tawnyleaf needed to mourn instead of caring for her offspring, Crowkit wasn't going to be the one complaining. Her biggest fear, during her youngest moons, was to cause her mother unnecessary pain. She wasn't able to fully understand what was so monstrous about the topic of her father. Although, she suspected that it had likely been an incredibly tragic event, what with how much it seemed to affect Tawnyleaf negatively.
Tawnyleaf was unable to move on. Eventually, the depression got in her head. The clan suspected Tawnyleaf was becoming bi-polar. That, or simply growing some kind of mental illness. Eventually, Tawnyleaf began to start scaring Crowkit. The she-kit stopped attempting to break through the barrier her mother had built out of fear of provoking an inner ire from Tawnyleaf. The entire clan expected Tawnyleaf's soon-to-be death, though, that didn't mean that Crowkit expected it, too. She was devestated.
Crowkit was newly announced as Crowpaw after only a few days without her mother. Her mentor was a handsome tom-cat: Quietstrike. She knew him to be the father of her cousin, though didn't necessarily let this minor setback sway her. His methods of teaching did a superb job of shaping Crowpaw into a picture-perfect warrior, though she never found herself being entirely focused during their sessions. Eventually, Crowpaw found herself becoming a little too attached to Quietstrike. Her attraction toward the tom-cat was easily due to her needing someone after the loss of the only family she had known since birth. (Not counting Larchpaw or Yellowheart, since she rarely conversed with either of them) Regardless, she never told a soul about her fan-girl like crush upon him.
Training passed by quickly, a little too quickly for Crowpaw's liking. She would have easily preferred an extended moon or so added on, simply so she could spend more time with Quietstrike. However, it seemed unlikely, what with all of her successful training, that StoneClan's leader would see any reason to delay her ceremony.
Her last day as an apprentice was spent alone in the forest proximity closest to camp. It was then, on this particular day, Crowpaw was introduced to the animal her prefix was named for. Immediately, she was mesmerized. The blackness of the creature's feathers, eyes and, well, entire body was fascinating for Crowpaw. She spent hours watching the birds soar above, occasionally meeting their ominous gazes as they swept by mid-flight.
It was only when she at last returned to camp as the sun began to set that the bad news reached her ears. Quietstrike had been attacked by a half-starved fox while out hunting, being forced into an early retirement due to a leg injury he would not be able to heal from. Crowpaw was devestated that her crush had been harmed, immediately visiting him in the medicine den to assure he was doing well. It was only when Crowpaw went to check in on Quietstrike that she found herself tempted to confess the feelings toward him that she had felt since their training had began. Acting on impulse, Crowpaw did just that – not receiving the fairy tale ending she had inwardly expected.
Quietstrike was her father. Not only did that make her crush on him entirely repulsive, but it was devastating for Crowpaw to realize that Tawnyleaf had deprived her from a father when he was, very well, alive. Even more importantly, it meant that she had a sister. Crowpaw – too incredibly disgusted by the entire crush to bother with informing Larchpaw – took to the nursery in an emotional beating.
Her warrior name, Crowdance, was accepted before the eyes of her mentor – the most awkward moment she ever had to withstand. Crowdance found herself almost being thankful that Quietstrike had retired early. She saw no reason to visit him in the elder's den, even with him being her father. She was far too scarred and emotionally destroyed to ever bother desiring to speak with him again.
Larchdance was soon informed of Crowdance being her sister after the warrior ceremony. Although the two sisters talk far more often than Yellowheart and Tawnyleaf ever had; Crowdance can't help but see images of Quietstrike whenever she looks at her sister. She doesn't allow this to come between them nor their bond. However, it certainly makes her wary while in her presence. Larchdance knows of Crowdance's former crush on Quietstrike. How? Crowdance has no idea. All she knows is that it was the most terrible moment of her life when she found out he was her father. She despises the topic, and has made it very clear that Larchdance is to keep such horrid information to herself.
