I HATE THIS!"The agitated growls of a dark brownish golden apprentice stirred Silverkit from her nap. Blinking sleepily in the direction of the culprit, kitten-blue eyes settled on Rookpaw, who looked about as pleased as a badger with a toothache as he nudged soiled bedding out of the nursery. He met eyes with Silverkit, his expression a glare, and the silvery furred she-kit found herself backing up, slightly alarmed at being the sudden target of his...dissatisfaction. "Mother, what's the matter with that tom?" She spoke, her attention on Rookpaw as he exited, plodding through the snowy campsite to go change the bedding. Sandfur, who had been busy grooming the still-sleeping Rowankit, chuckled, purring. "He's been punished by your brother for breaking the rules." She informed her inquisitive daughter, and Silverkit instantly understood why the tom had reacted that way to her. My brother. With a determined spring in her step, the silver kitten left the safety and shelter of the warm nursery, wanting to tell Rookpaw that glaring at her wasn't very nice, especially when she wasn't to blame for his punishment. However, rather than reach her destination, Silverkit ended up bumping into the skinny hind leg of one of the crossing apprentices, the tiny creature bouncing back onto her rump with a squeak. where you invest your love,[/size] Olive eyes of a young apprentice glanced around the camp, feeling particularly idle in the early evening hours of a brisk Leafbare day. Sparrowpaw had had a more successful day than most -- the black and white apprentice had been successful in catching a scrawny mouse. But since then, Sparrowpaw had been merely sitting around camp, trying to keep warm.
For some reason, the apprentice had never grown in much of a Leafbare pelt. Sure, Sparrowpaw's pelt had grown out and thickened a little since the beginning of Leafbare, but it was not nearly enough for her. Not for this Leafbare, anyways, Sparrowpaw thought to herself, and casted a glance up into the murky gray sky. Though snow had ceased for the past few days, the black and white apprentice worried that the angry sky would pelt them with cold weather any hour now.
The young apprentice, who had been trotting back and forth through TreeClan camp, halted at the entrance to the nursery. A compulsion, as it were, brought the scrawny apprentice inside the dark and moist den. I have so many familiar memories here. The good and the bad, Sparrowpaw thought to herself, flicking her olive eyes about the den and peering at the sleeping kittens. The apprentice did not pay attention to the kit who was approaching her.
It was only when the apprentice felt something bump up against her legs that she paid any attention. Sparrowpaw pinned her ears back with surprise, her legs buckling a little as with the force of the kitten. The apprentice let out a surprised vocalization, but instantly calmed when she saw it was a kit -- Silverkit, to be exact. "Hello! How's it going?" Sparrowpaw mewed, expecting only idle chatter from the kit who she had only seen being excitable and full of life. you invest your life. [/size][/u]

How's it going?"Rounded eyes looked up into the pretty face of the black and white she-cat, Silverkit's folded ears straightening into a proper look of friendly attentiveness once she realized Sparrowpaw wasn't mad. "Good," she replied softly, finding her voice after one last hesitant glance after Rookpaw, who was still clearing out the nursery. It was probably best to stay out of his way. "I just wanted to be outside, while it's still light out!" Offered Silverkit by way of explaining her hurry. For some reason, she didn't really want to call attention to the way Rookpaw had treated her - if she made a big deal about it, he'd get into even more trouble, right? Silverkit glanced beyond Sparrowpaw's salt-and-pepper pelt to the ongoings of her Clanmates, feeling like nothing more than a spectator in a game she wasn't old enough to play yet, forced on the sidelines to watch in wonder, kneading her paws into the frozen earth in quiet anticipation. Just a little longer and she would be an apprentice, wouldn't she? Maybe I'll get...Nobleheart as my mentor? That was probably too much to ask for, but Silverkit felt a certain lingering respect, admiration and warmth for the tom who had saved her in the middle of the night from the greedy fingers of a raccoon. Fixing a curious gaze back upon Sparrowpaw, the kitten spoke up with some remaining shyness; "A-Are you going to be a warrior soon?"[/style][/style][/style][STYLE=font: 10px Calibri; width: 450px; margin:auto; text-align: center;]table (c) Quirky Tea at Back to Neverland

where you invest your love,[/size] Sparrowpaw regarded the kitten before her with a childlike friendliness and a body position that was very open and joyful. Silverkit, Sparrowpaw regarded with her warm olive eyes, seemed somewhat unsure of herself and longed to be in the outdoors. Though Silverkit claimed to be good, a quick glance in the direction of the departing Rookpaw told Sparrowpaw that her words were not necessarily so. Glancing at the young kit, Sparrowpaw decided that she had entered the den for the sole purpose of cheering Lionstar's kin up.
'I just wanted to be outside, while it's still light out!' Silverkit told the black and white apprentice and she gave a small nod and a faint smile. She was still unsure if she was speaking the truth, or not. "It's awfully cold out, you know! You'd probably do best inside. If I could be in the den all the time, I promise, I would!" Sparrowpaw meowed, giving a small laugh and shrugging her thin pelt at the kitten. The young apprentice was freezing constantly --and though she, of course, wished to do all that she could for her hungry, equally freezing clan, she could still have a part of her wish to be a kit again, coddled by her foster mother. Though ... the bad ... I do not wish that bacl, Sparrowpaw thought, thinking for a moment of the name-calling that had been spat at her from other kits while she was still young and innocence. Sparrowpaw hoped that Silverkit did not have to face the same problems she did.
Silverkit's tiny voice caused the young apprentice to jump out of her thoughts and back into the present. 'A-Are you going to be a warrior soon?' Silverkit asked and Sparrowpaw gave a small shake of her head. "I'm actually only 6 moons. A mere moon ago, I was in the nursery!" Sparrowpaw exclaimed, her voice smooth like honey. She did not want this kit to be afraid of her. you invest your life. [/size][/u]

A mere moon ago, I was in the nursery!"Silverkit had listened respectfully to Sparrowpaw's words about the cold - she always listened to cats who were older than she - but it was when the black and white apprentice spoke of her age that Silverkit's eyes truly grew as round as chestnuts, tiny coal-dusted ears pricking forward with intrigue. She was in the nursery just a moon ago?"But you're so big!" Squawked the kitten, her whiskers twitching when she realized she may have been rude - an awkward paw shuffle and a tail drop denoted her recognition - and uttered a quick but heartfelt "S-Sorry!"You gotta stop apologizing to everyone you bump into, Silverkit! What could YOU possibly have to be sorry about? Rowankit always yowled at her, forever abashed by how different they were from one another. Silverkit was a sweet, inquisitive little kitten with a lot more to her than met the eye, but she didn't quite have Rowankit's outgoingness (which was putting it politely). Hoping to change the subject, Silverkit quietly bore small holes into a lump of snow with the tip of her left paw, lifting it free of the accumulated cold and shaking it free, before going to gently prod another snow lump, the process repeated as she spoke. "Have you seen Noblepa- Nobleheart?"[/style][/style][/style][STYLE=font: 10px Calibri; width: 450px; margin:auto; text-align: center;]table (c) Quirky Tea at Back to Neverland

where you invest your love,[/size] The black and white she-cat peered at the young kitten -- the smile on her face, for the time, still was beaming over at Silverkit. Until Silverkit spoke -- surprised and critical of her. Or, at least Sparrowpaw thought so. The young apprentice's big ears flicked her ears back and her words. Silverkit referenced her height -- Sparrowpaw knew for a fact -- and instantly felt like she had been stung. Sparrowpaw had always felt ugly and uncomfortable in her boyish body. Her fur never grew the way she wanted it to, her ears were far too big for her body, her bones always poked out in weird, unattractive ways. Sparrowpaw wanted to just blend in with the other cats. The black and white apprentice did not want to be pretty -- she just wanted to get by. I don't want attention. From anyone. StarClan, why do I deserve this?Sparrowpaw thought.
The black and white apprentice was visibly upset, her black tail flicking back and forth and her eyes crestfallen and full of darkness. Silverkit's next words pulled Sparrowpaw out of her fog. 'S-Sorry!' Silverkit mewed and seemed sincere. Sparrowpaw was instantly reminded how she was speaking to a kit and wondered briefly whether Silverkit had meant to speak those words aloud. (Though Sparrowpaw definitely believed that Silverkit meant what she said).
The black and white apprentice tried to shake the feelings of sadness from her pelt and dispel it into the air like dust but found that she could not quite manage such matters. "It's alright," Sparrowpaw meowed, pleasantly and tried to disguise her feelings. For the kit, she reminded herself.
'Have you seen Noblepa- Nobleheart?' Silverkit asked and Sparrowpaw gave her head a shake. Though she knew of Nobleheart's deed to Silverkit, the apprentice had not really contacted Nobleheart much, other than him being a member of her same clan. "I have not. Do you need him? Shall I fetch him?" Sparrowpaw asked. She felt that it was hard for her to speak. you invest your life. [/size][/u]

Not as big as a raccoon though, Silerkit had quietly observed with noticeable relief. She didn't really feel comfortable when someone was so big they created an equally as large, looming shadow right over top her small, fluffy, fragile body. "I have not. Do you need him? Shall I fetch him?"The kitten eagerly shook her head from side to side, no. Feeling embarrassed, Silverkit shuffled her small gray-shaded paws into the snow again. "No, that's okay - he just stopped...visiting after he became a warrior." She wasn't sure if she missed him so much as she missed the safety he provided with his presence, that Silverkit could look at him and know for a fact that no raccoons, no foxes, no nothing could possibly get through the scarred warrior's defenses. "He started to check up on me after m-my dreamwalking into the forest, and I-"She faltered. Uh-oh. Fixing alarmed baby blue eyes upon Sparrowpaw, the fluffy silver-shaded body seemed to sink back onto itself, growing even smaller. Silverkit hadn't meant to say she was dream-walking... But why?Because she was afraid it was something bad, and the tiny kitten with the big secret didn't want to be singled out as weird or strange because of her...dreaming habits. It definitely wasn't normal, to fall asleep in one place and wake up in another, all because you envisioned yourself moving in your dreams. What if next time, she walked all the way to the river and drowned? That was too scary a thought for Silverkit to think about, and she quickly shut her eyes, trying to block out the very idea. where you invest your love,[/size] Sparrowpaw observed Silverkit, starting to feel a little better about herself and her oddities [iniquities] as seconds spent between the pair ticked by. The black and white apprentice wore a faint smile not matter her mood -- it was painstakingly pressed against her maw and pinned up so that it could not droop -- only get wider and wider to express such plesant outward emotions for a kitten who Sparrowpaw strove to amuse and had deemed feeling a little glum.
'No, that's okay - he just stopped...visiting after he became a warrior,' Silverkit told Sparrowpaw, speaking of Nobleheart. The young apprentice gave a small decisive shake of her head. The apprentice had heard that he was a little on the grumpy and proud side (much like her own brother Swallowpaw). Sparrowpaw certainly did not want Silverkit to get her hopes up and think that he would return to her -- but also did not want to completely crush her spirits in suggesting that Nobleheart didn't care. For StarClan's sake, I don't even know the cat! Sparrowpaw thought, before treading at the snow dappled ground carefully. "You know, the life of a warrior is hard. But imagine the life of a brand new warrior. You have to make all new friends, have to hunt by yourself, live by yourself, and just ... reinvent your whole life! I'm sure Nobleheart will come by when he had the time," Sparrowpaw meowed to Silverkit, her ears perking forward. The black and white apprentice, for a moment, for more truth in her own words than she had expected. The meaning certainly hit home for her; the apprentice began to wonder. Will I ever be ready for that?
Silverkit did not give Sparrowpaw much of a chance to continue on with such a thought. 'He started to check up on me after m-my dreamwalking into the forest, and I-' Silverkit began, but was cut off as she realized that she had said something that she hadn't quite meant to divulge. Many cats might think daydreaming to be weird or simply claim that it was a kittish game that Silverkit was playing only. Sparrowpaw did not feel that way. The black and white apprentice tilted her head. "Dreamwalking? What about? How long has this been going on? Does you mother know?" Sparrowpaw asked the kit before feeling sheepish for asking so many questions at once. Silverkit might not even be able to come up with answers to all the questions the young apprentice had and hadn't even wanted to tell Sparrowpaw about her dreaming issue in the first place. The black and white apprentice wondered if Silverkit would even be open to talking about it at all. "Sorry," Sparrowpaw blurted out.
At least she had forgotten about how "big" she was.

What about? How long has this been going on? Does you mother know?"The kitten seemed to wilt before the sudden barrage of questions; Silverkit tore her gaze away from the ground to try and read the expression Sparrowpaw was wearing, worried that the older, wiser she-cat might be frightened or freaked out or worse, mad about the dream-walking. "O-Only recently." Silverkit explained, taken aback, her short but fluffy tail hugging her left side as though cold. "Please don't tell my mom. Th-They weren't a problem until...a couple of sunrises ago." That was the best she could do for right now. At first they hadn't been bad dreams; it was like watching another cat's life play out before her very eyes, and she was nothing more than a quiet little spectator, forced to sit and stare as scenes played out before her very eyes. From what she had gleaned, the name of the cat with the beautiful golden fur and the lovely plume of a tail, bore the name Goldenwing, and she kept...leaving her Clan for some reason, not always to hunt or to play or whatever it was cats did... She always seemed so intent upon seeing someone or going somewhere special. Silverkit had yet to find out what.Fixing kitten-blue eyes upon the black and white she-cat, a soft voice of worry rose from the silver-shaded bundle; "A-Am I in trouble?"Am I...a freak?[/style][/style][/style][STYLE=font: 10px Calibri; width: 450px; margin:auto; text-align: center;]table (c) Quirky Tea at Back to Neverland

where you invest your love,[/size] The black and white apprentice observed Silverkit with distinctive interest, swishing her skinny black tail as Silverkit tried to explain herself in words that spoke best of her and more importantly, the kit's sanity. Sparrowpaw, however, was completely non-judgmental. The only concern the young apprentice had for Silverkit was her fear that the kitten's sleep problem was negatively affecting her -- making it hard for the kitten to get enough sleep or make the kitten feel isolated by the other kittens in the den. As a cat who had grown up isolated and judged by others, Sparrowpaw knew how it had changed her and did not want the same for Silverkit -- or any kit, for that matter.
Olive eyes gazed, unblinking and of the gentlest shade as she watched the kitten defend herself. 'O-Only recently. Please don't tell my mom. Th-They weren't a problem until...a couple of sunrises ago. Am I in trouble?' Silverkit asked and Sparrowpaw observed what she felt was a somewhat pleading gleam held in the kitten's eyes. Sparrowpaw wrapped her tail against her body, making it immobile as she peered at the kitten. "I have no right to make those choices for you -- after all, I am only a few moons older than you. Though I wish you would tell someone, because I care about your health, I would never tell anyone without your permission first," Sparrowpaw informed the kit with a stern, yet kind smile on her maw. "What goes on in these dreams, if I may ask? I promise, what we chat about will be safe with me," Sparrowpaw told the kitten.
I hope it's safe with Nobleheart, too, Sparrowpaw thought to herself but would not tell Silverkit of such worries. After all, Sparrowpaw hardly knew Nobleheart (though at this point in her short life, she had certainly heard an amazing amount about that cat to not really know him personally at all). She had no right to judge his character at this point.
And, though she told Silverkit that she would keep her secret guarded, this was a white lie. If the black and white apprentice thought Silverkit to be in a life threatening situation, she would, of course, divulge the information.

Then the others won't think I'm weird... Silverkit did not have much of a social circle outside of her sister, Rowankit and the other kits in the nursery, but the half-sister of Lionstar was already starting to tell the difference between 'popularity' and 'lackthereof'. She wasn't necessarily in the 'lackthereof' category, she was more along the lines of 'quiet, keep-to-yourself' type of kitten, with her head in the clouds more often than not. Well, not the clouds. More like dreams she wasn't sure belonged to her. "What goes on in these dreams, if I may ask? I promise, what we chat about will be safe with me,"Squeaking in surprise, Silverkit looked up, eyes rounded as she sat back on her rump, appearing to give it some serious thought. Should I tell her? What if she laughs at me? Feeling self-conscious all over again, Silverkit gulped, working up the nerve. No matter what, I'm still going to be an apprentice, and then a warrior, and then Mom, Dad and Lionstar will be proud of me, even if I have dreams I can't explain. Making a little nod to her own supportive thoughts, the kitten made eye contact with Sparrowpaw again, finding her voice. "I'm following this she-cat, Go-Goldenwing is her name. She always walks through a forest - TreeClan territory, maybe? I-I-I'm not sure. She keeps meeting someone. I think her Daddy is the Clan leader... He's huge." Ears pricking forward as she recalled the dream accurately, Silverkit's gaze shifted from Sparrowpaw over to where TreeClan's leader had just padded out of his den, perhaps to organize a few hunting parties. "Like Lionstar, only...bigger...and more gold. Like the sun."Yes, like the sun. There was something warm and kind and benevolent about the great golden cat in her dreams, though she felt a certain kinship for his daughter that Silverkit would never in a million moons be able to explain. where you invest your love,[/size] Sparrowpaw gazed at the kit, very fixated upon her words and her big ears cupped forward for optimum understanding and retention of the small kitten's voice. Though it was almost silly for a slightly older cat to be so interested in what someone so young had to say, but Sparrowpaw held interest and almost respect for the kitten. Silverkit spoke of things that Sparrowpaw had never even heard of and things to transcendental that the young apprentice felt that she needed to pay special attention to catch every detail and to form a good idea of the situation. 'I'm following this she-cat, Go-Goldenwing is her name. She always walks through a forest - TreeClan territory, maybe? I-I-I'm not sure. She keeps meeting someone. I think her Daddy is the Clan leader... He's huge. Like Lionstar, only...bigger...and more gold. Like the sun, Silverkit spoke of her dream with some hesitation at the beginning, but seemed to quickly open up with the more detail that she provided Sparrowpaw with.
The names that the kitten popped caused Sparrowpaw to flick her ears back and retreat into the confines of her mind. Goldenwing ... a cat bigger than Lionstar, like the sun, Sparrowpaw thought, Silverkit's tiny, high-pitched voice echoing and tumbling around her brain. It was unfortunate that Sparrowpaw was only a few moons older than Silverkit; had she been older, there might have been some chance that the apprentice could wrack her mind through all the cats she knew and come up with a cat that fit the bill. But, simply enough, Sparrowpaw knew only a few more cats than Silverkit and the cats that danced through Silverkit's dreams were foreign to her as well.
The apprentice gave a short shake of her head. "Their names don't ring a bell ... Does it ... hurt you at all? Like, are you not getting enough sleep or feeling scared of your thoughts?" Sparrowpaw asked the kitten, trying to get a feel for the severity of these strange dreams.
Are the cats in your dreams speaking to you? Do you know that you are seeing their lives?" Sparrowpaw asked and then gave a sudden sad dip of her head. "I hope I am not asking too much of you. You have every right to tell me no," the apprentice added hastily. She felt nosy about her questions -- like she was prying into the life of cat she had just met.

Does it ... hurt you at all? Like, are you not getting enough sleep or feeling scared of your thoughts?"What a strange question! Silverkit blinked, astonished at how utterly odd the words Sparrowpaw spoke were. Hurt? Why would it hurt? Shaking her head in earnest now, the silvery, fluffy kitten looked puzzled, as though trying to figure out the nature of such a bizarre inquiry. "No, it doesn't hurt at all. Goldenwing is a lot bigger and a lot faster than me, so she's hard to keep up with..." That was more-or-less the bane of her dreams, trying to keep up with the she-cat who always seemed on the move. Are the cats in your dreams speaking to you? Do you know that you are seeing their lives?"Another strange question. Again Silverkit shook her head, no. "Goldenwing never speaks to me. No one ever looks at me - it's like I'm invisible, b-but I don't mind." Stricken by timidity once more, the kitten turned glossy blue eyes up to Sparrowpaw's disproportionate features, a whirl of confusion visible on her sweet little face. She had never felt bothered by being invisible before. It would have been scary if they did talk to her! Goldenwing met some scary looking cats sometimes; of course they were always nice to Goldenwing, but Silverkit couldn't help but feel the urge to hide under some shrubbery whenever they were around, and listen in her own little safety-nest in the brambles somewhere. The only big 'scary' cat she wasn't afraid of was the great golden tom who was like the sun. He was too...familiar...too warm to be afraid of. It was like meeting an old friend, or a grandfather of sorts, though he could be stern. Goldenwing had argued with him about something, but Silverkit had been too far away to hear it that time. At most, the mouse would feed one queen and maybe a small kit. It was pathetic. But it was the best he could do with the combination of what little prey they had and the scrawny, meatless variety that had become so common these past moons. Shaking his head, the gray and white warrior plodded over to the nursery, the well-worn and stomped down snow doing little to freeze his already numb feet. He had entered the rather comfortable den more times in the past few days than he had the rest of his life after he had become an apprentice. Never had he imagined himself returning so frequently unless it housed his own kits and mate, and right now, that seemed like something in the distant future.
He would never admit it, but Silverkit's midnight escapade had shaken him more than he had thought it would. She was a danger to herself, and even though he had decided that he would not let her worm her way into his heart, he found himself worrying a little every night as he fell alseep. What if he did not wake up next time? As much as he trusted her mother to keep her in line, queens had to sleep just like every other cat. Silverkit had not even recognized the danger until it was literally about to bite her on the nose, and she had no idea how to react to it. Maybe I should show her some fighting moves? That idea caught his attention, but he had to store it away for further consideration when he entered the nursery.
"Well look who's here," He muttered, voice muffled as he padded over to join the two she-cats. Setting down the mouse at his paws, he greeted the two, "Hey Sparrowpaw, Silverkit. You're to go on the dusk patrol, by the way, Sparrowpaw." Obviously the last part was addressed to his former denmate, and he added, "But that's not for a while; you have time to talk." Turning to Silverkit, he questioned, "Have you seen your mother around, Silverkit? I have this mouse for her; if you're good, maybe she'd let you try a bite?"

where you invest your love,[/size] The ebony and alabaster watched the kitten, feeling relieved that though Silverkit was very hesitant and almost too thoughtful in her responses to her many [prying] questions, the kitten was willing to speak. Every curveball that Sparrowpaw threw Silverkit's direction, the kitten was able to respond to while remaining on topic and, Sparrowpaw though, honest. The apprentice was glad of this -- if Silverkit had been with-holding information, the apprentice would never be able to get a good scope of the situation.
Sparrowpaw listened, her large, disproportionate ears perked forward, as the kitten described how she was more of an onlooker in the dream sequences, rather than a character actually involved with the dreams as they happened. The apprentice felt relieved that Silverkit felt unharmed by the dreams she was having. But, Sparrowpaw wondered, if the dreams continued, if Silverkit's emotional and physical health would suffer. The apprentice also wondered how truthful Silverkit was being in saying that things were alright. Were here dreams waking her up or keeping her from sleeping? Sparrowpaw wondered.
The TreeClanner was about to further pry at this question to get an answer that she believed in a little more, when she saw the newly named warrior, Nobleheart, enter the nursery, his jaws laden with fresh kill. The she-cat dipped her head. So this is him, the TreeClanner thought, her olive eyes giving him a once over before turning back to Silverkit. The apprentice's shiny eyes remained on the kitten as he addressed her. 'Hey Sparrowpaw, Silverkit. You're to go on the dusk patrol, by the way, Sparrowpaw. But that's not for a while; you have time to talk,' Nobleheart informed her and she gave a brief shrug and meowed an "okay" in a simple, unemotional tone. While Sparrowpaw was quite pleased with the concept of the dusk patrol and had a little case of the nerves, she kept steady simply because she did not want to seem overly babyish with the new warrior in her presence and a kit looking up to her as being somewhat wise.
Sparrowpaw watched Nobleheart address Silverkit and gave a small smile, feeling a bit like an outsider. The apprentice, beyond understanding that Nobleheart had saved Silverkit's life [and not knowing the circumstances surrounding the incident], did not understand the relationship between the two. Duskpaw had always told her that Nobleheart was moody at his best and with his busy life as a warrior, she could not fathom why he spent so much time with her. Unless ... the apprentice blinked, her thoughts, once jumbled, slowly collecting. Unless he worries for her and Silverkit's dreams, Sparrowpaw thought to herself, returning her green gaze to Nobleheart' scarred face. I will have to talk to him about it later. He knows more about it, clearly, Sparrowpaw thought to herself.
The TreeClanner was unsure of how to continue the conversation with Silverkit, feeling that a little sensitivity in the discussion was a must."That seems like a nice piece of prey," Sparrowpaw meowed to Nobleheart and felt her fur heat up in her own stupidity. Well, that sounded stupid, the apprentice thought glumly to herself. you invest your life. [/size][/u]
