I hate the world today You're so good to me I know but I can't change Tried to tell you But you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath BERRYSONG Innocent and sweet
Clever bright green eyes perused the warrior den as the young warrior stood at the entrance. The bright orange she-cat, Berrysong, was careful not to set foot into the warrior's den, however. Directly above the entrance to the warrior den sat a very large pile of snow that looked, to the she-cat, ready to fall.
Berrysong was not one to warn anyone of the trap laying just outside of the warrior den. Her plans were of a more malevolent nature. The bright orange tabby planned to take something completely miserable and make it a little better. All the snow and cold was just dreadful for the warrioress, but watching a cat exit or enter the warrior den and get ting covered with sloppy, wet snow would take the edge off of things. Berrysong always loved a good laugh session, even if it had to be at the expense of another.
Glancing around, the orange tabby wondered who her subject might be. "Anyone here?" Berrysong asked in a voice that was sickly sweet and might be hard for others to stomach. The warrior could barely keep the smirk off of her face.
But, something like a smirk would be unsightly, wouldn't it?

Just as her paws crossed the threshold into camp, she glanced around the area, more out of habit than anything else. Why this reflex had developed, she could not tell, but she simply assumed that it was to catch any trouble-making apprentices or lazy warriors lingering around camp instead of putting their energy toward something productive and beneficial. It seemed like she had stumbled upon the latter that day. Ice-blue eyes took note of the somewhat suspicious orange tabby form lingering outside the warrior's den, but she dismissed it. Instead, she took the time to add her pathetic catch of two frail mice to the pile, giving it the once over as usual. Still not big enough.
She looked up again, and her gaze landed once more on the figure lurking outside the warrior's den. That was odd. It was the same orange tabby, whom she thought she recognized upon closer inspection. Her heart sunk when her suspicions came true; the orange tabby was a relatively new warrior who by the name of Berrysong, and she had gained a reputation as a fairly shallow, if not somewhat malicious, cat. No good could come out of the tabby standing outside the den like that, and she felt obligated to investigate and put a stop to whatever idea the younger warrior had concocted. Long strides carried her briskly over to the entrance as she assessed the situation. After noting the generous amount of snow perched precariously over the entrance, Hailstrike had no trouble connecting the dots. "Don't you think it rather rude, Berrysong," She spoke evenly, "to not warn your fellow clanmates of the danger lurking above their head?"
Unfortunately for a certain thick-furred she-cat, Hailstrike's warning had arrived too late. Responding to the sweet voice that had called so innocently into the den, Honeynose had roused herself from her comfortable nest, planning to go out and greet whatever cat needed help. Blinking in the light, she stepped out of the den and barely had an instant to react to the complaints above her. Honeynose turned, just as the world came tumbling down.

I hate the world today You're so good to me I know but I can't change Tried to tell you But you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath BERRYSONG Innocent and sweet
Bright green eyes gleamed with mirth and the she-cat twitched her nose and whiskers as she stood, patient as ever. Berrysong hadn't even though about how suspicious she may have looked to any cat coming by -- just standing out, in the open, her bright orange tabby pelt shining in bright contrast against the white, fresh Leafbare snow. Berrysong did not hide -- she did not pretend to be doing any other matter. The young warrior just waited her victim, whoever it may be (she did not have a preference) to arrive.
It was a pure shock to the warrior when she spun around to face another warrior who had addressed her. It was as if Berrysong had thought that she was invisible. 'Don't you think it rather rude, Berrysong, to not warn your fellow clanmates of the danger lurking above their head?' Hailstrike asked. Berrysong smiled innocently, opening her white-tipped muzzle to respond. "I was figuring how to get it off, actually" Berrysong lied, but her voice was even and her eyes did not give away her lie in the slightest. Berrysong, as it was, was a brilliant liar.
It was at this moment that Honeynose innocently came padding out of the opening to the Warrior's den and got buried with Berrysong's trap. The orange tabby stifled back a laugh, but could hardly help herself. "Are you alright?" Berrysong asked, not really interested in her clanmate's health and fighting back a laugh. Berrysong would have openly laughed at Honeynose -- if only Hailstrike wasn't there with them, already feeling suspicious of the young warrior.

An innocent expression flickered across the orange tabby's features, and had she not known of Berrysong's reputation beforehand, Hailstrike might have been completely fooled by the brilliant lying. Even so, she found herself admiring the seemingly natural way the words flowed off the younger she-cat's tongue. It was the fact that they contradicted everything that she knew about the she-cat that put the warrior on her guard. "Well, see that you figure it out quickly," Hailstrike replied a moment later, voice betraying none of the skepticism she felt. "That could injure someone if it fell--"
And then it fell. Right on top of Honeynose.
The first thing Honeynose was aware of was the bone-chilling cold that seeped through her thick fur. It surrounded her, encasing her in a tight coccoon of coldness, and she shivered. Snow flew from her face as she shook her head vigorously, breathing in gasping breaths of air that suddenly seemed more icy. Yellow eyes landed on a golden tabby - Berrysong - and it took her a moment before she comprehended the worried question. "Yeah," She responded through chattering teeth, fighting her way out of the drift. "Ju-just cold, I think."
"--on top of them." Needless to say, Hailstrike was not amused. It was easy to see that the mixture of snow and slush had all but frozen its victim, and after casting a pointed look at Berrynose, the she-cat moved forward to help Honeynose escape the clutches of the pile. "We need to get you warmed up," She muttered under her breath. The last thing they needed was a warrior suffering from hypothermia and potentially catching a disease, which would then spread and put the whole clan at risk.

I hate the world today You're so good to me I know but I can't change Tried to tell you But you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath BERRYSONG Innocent and sweet
Berrysong regarded Hailstrike with annoyance and paid little credence to the older warrior's words. What a square, Berrysong thought to herself. Hailstrike was simply ruining her fun!'Well, see that you figure it out quickly,' Hailstrike told her and Berrysong nodded in an almost dutiful way, as if she meant to do the task at hand. But in her head, Berrysong's mind was reeling with ways to get back at the serious warrior for ruining her play. Trick her into eating a maggot-infested bird? Berrysong thought to herself, her eyes gleaming and the she-cat fighting to keep the smile wiped from her pretty features.
'That could injure someone if it fell--' Hailstrike warned just before the whole load of snow piled up upon Honeynose. The effect and the sound of the snow hitting the other warrior was perfectly pleasant. It was quite hard for Berrysong to not laugh -- she was quite pleased with her handiwork, even if she had not really done anything in the situation except watch it unfold. The orange tabby was really only guilty of not telling anyone about the precarious snow pile. She hadn't set it there or anything. StarClan had taken care of that part for her.
Berrysong became even more amused when Hailstrike began to fuss over Honeynose and worried about hypothermia. It wasn't like Berrysong wanted the death of her fellow warrior, or anything -- but it certainly would be amusing for Honeynose to die because she got buried in a snow drift. 'We need to get you warmed up,' Hailstrike murmured and Berrysong concealed a small sigh. By we, Berrysong could only assume she meant that Berrysong was included. "Shall I get the medicine cat?" Berrysong inquired, stretching her bright orange tabby fur and unsure of how to warm Honeynose up when it was cold -- literally everywhere.

"No, I'm fine," Honeynose insisted. Though she appreciated Hailstrike's assistance and worry, she felt as though it was rather unnecessary. While she was far colder than she had been moments before, the worst of it seemed to be shock. "Thanks, Berrysong, Hailstrike" She nodded pleasantly to the orange she-cat, a small smile flitting across her lips. "But I think I'll just head back and lay down for a bit until I warm up." There was no reason she had to go bother Blackeagle unless she wasn't sick; no doubt he had enough to worry about already, what with the herb shortages that naturally came with Leaf-bare. She gave her fur a few quick licks, shivering as a cold breeze travelled through camp and pointedly ignoring Hailstrike's protesting expression. "Yeah. Let me just--" She nodded once more to the two she-cats and ducked back inside the warriors den.
Hailstrike watched her go with a slightly disapproving gaze before she turned sharp eyes on the orange tabby. It would be ideal to get her out of camp before there was a repeat incident, and all of her energy could be channeled toward something productive. "Come with me, Berrysong," Hailstrike acted on her plan smoothly, tail flicking behind her. The she-cat was a young cat, and like amost any young cat, particularly the ones in StoneClan, she had potential. Little irritated her as much as seeing the potential for a very capable, very valuable warrior go to waste over immaturity. While Berrysong was no longer an apprentice, Hailstrike was her senior; therefore, she could drag the orange tabby out hunting or out on patrol.
It did not take long for her to see the sense in taking Berrysong out on a border patrol rather than a hunting one. She did not know the orange she-cat well - having really only reputation to judge her by - but she would not put it past the tabby to scare away all the prey out of spite. Hailstrike sincerely hoped that she was wrong, but she also knew that it was better to expect the worst. It was impossible to be surprised. She lead the way out of camp, expecting the younger warrior to follow her but glancing back all the same. "It seems as though the cold moons of Leaf-Bare have not deterred LightningClan from pushing at the border."

I hate the world today You're so good to me I know but I can't change Tried to tell you But you look at me like maybe I'm an angel underneath BERRYSONG Innocent and sweet
The vibrant orange tabby watched Honeynose, still quite amused with herself. When Honeynose insisted on being okay and merely being shocked, the tabby let her contentedness with her plan shine through. Her dainty muzzle curled around on the edges in a faint, but ever present smile. There was no reason for her to hide it -- Hailstrike already suspected her of being less than innocent in the act of the falling snow. If, for some reason, Berrysong thinking that Hailstrike was suspicious was incorrect (and she doubted that to be true), Berrysong could simply credit her smile as to being relief that Honeynose was ok. And -- in truth, Berrysong was glad for Honeynose's safety. She wasn't really intending on hurting anyone in her shenanigans.
Watching Honeynose retreat back into the warriors den, the young warrior turned her head to observe the irate countenance of Hailstrike. 'Come with me, Berrysong,' Hailstrike spoke to her in a harsh tone and Berrysong flicked her ears back. While Berrysong did not plan to protest the older warrior ordering her about like she did, Berrysong did feel that her ... skills were more happily used within the camp boundaries. And away from camp, with just the two of them, Berrysong worried that Hailstrike would speak her mind about the young warrior's actions more freely. And I, honestly, don't care, Berrysong thought to herself, trotting a good tail-length behind her fellow warrior and refusing to maintain eye contact.
'It seems as though the cold moons of Leaf-Bare have not deterred LightningClan from pushing at the border,' Hailstrike informed her as Berrysong padded up and stood by her left shoulder, her tail tip quivering a little in the cold. "I believe its made it worse," Berrysong commented, her green eyes turning to look at Hailstrike for the first time since they had left on their journey. Though some might claim Berrysong to consistently have bad intentions, the orange tabby did not wish anything ill upon her clan. And noting the threat of a restless clan worried the young warrior like it might any other clan cat. "With so little to eat, LightningClan must be hoping that we have something to spare," Berrysong commented and gave a small laugh. The she-cat believe whole-heartedly that the least well off clan in terms of prey was StoneClan. She thought LightningClan would be better off looking elsewhere.
